37 Balloons Participate in First Race of Festival

Friday Evening Flight and Night Glow

Weather Clearing. Should be Good Weekend.
Mother nature is starting to cooperate with the balloon festival and it appears that Saturday and Sunday will be very nice. As long as the winds are calm enough and the moisture stays away it should be a great weekend for ballooning.  (More . . . )

FCX / WCLG Niteglow Set For Thursday
The traditional kicking off the festival this year will be the FCX / WCLG Night Glow at the festival site - Mylan Park. The balloons will begin inflating around 6:30 and stay inflated until dark to give spectators a wonderful view of large lanterns burning in the dark. Have you ever seen a 60-80 foot tall lanturn? They are quite a sight to see.

About 25 balloons are expected to participate; this would set a state record for a night glow in West Virginia - the previous record was 23, set at the 1994 Mountaineer Balloon Festival.  (More . . . )
